How to treat OCD without sexual side effects? Mirtazapine or Bupropion work? Details of Inositol for OCD, pls. I am aged 27 now and started to take Fluoxetine 20mg when I was 20 years old. I continued it for more than 5 years and stopped it because of GI side effects. Then tried Fluvoxamine, Sertralin, Clomipramine and Dothiepin. SSRIs work but Fluvoxamine and Sertralin cause nausea. I finally settled on Escitalopram and it was good at the beginning. But now relapse is a problem. Tried upto 20mg (still continuing). I am married now and sexual side effects are a big problem. What are my options?

Similar medications to bupropion (Wellbutrin/Zyban)? My question is for people that have responded really well to bupropion (Wellbutrin) for depression. I used to take it, and it's the only med that's ever really helped, but it's also a stimulant and exacerbates Tourette's tics to a painful point. I've been previously diagnosed with Tourette's (comorbid with OCD, depression and anxiety) and BPD, but treatment has always focused on Tourette's and anxiety.
SSRIs have no effect on me, and I need to avoid anything that makes anxiety worse. In the past, I've already tried: Paxil, Zoloft, Lexapro, Prozac, Effexor, Remeron, Haldol, Orap, Zyprexa, Risperdal, Seroquel. I'm seeing a psychiatrist, but I'm in a new country and the process is very slow, so I thought I would do some research on my own.
What other meds have you had a positive response to, if you responded positively to Wellbutrin?
meggus31 replied: "I am currently on a combination that pulled me from a suicidal depression. It took a very long time to get the perfect combination, but I did. I take 450mg of Wellbutrin and 60mg of Celexa. Stay far away from Cymbalta.
Good luck!!"
OCD - Fear of my boyfriend cheating on me. Someone please give me a little bit of reassurance.? I have been suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder since I was old enough to speak. It has interfered with my life for the most part but recently it has completely taken over. I keep fearing my boyfriend cheating on me. If I don't listen to my OCD rituals.. such as, straighting my hair a certain way, until if feels right.. he will cheat. It doesnt matter what im facing in my day, if something doesnt feel "right" i have to fix it or the thought of him cheating will continue recurring in my head.
I know this sounds ridiculous but in my head it feels so real.
If I try to ignore my ocd but the more i do that the more i think he is going to cheat on me..
My doctor told me to take Bupropion because everything else didnt work but the risks are making me anxious.
My boyfriend has never hurt me, and he never will. I have no idea why i keep getting intrusive thoughts of him cheating but i just want it to stop.
I cant take this anymore.
HELP
OC replied: "Just try to imagine that he has already cheated on you. He did it, it's done, and it's over. He has already cheated on you. Try to imagine that that's really happened. After you imagine that, start checking what you are feeling. Pain? Yes. Hysteria? Yes. Wanting to die? Yes. Check all the feelings. Now start checking your physical self. Are you alive? Yes. Are your hands in place? Yes. Are your feet in place? Yes. Can you talk? Yes. Can you walk? Yes. Nothing has changed. He had cheated on you, and you didn't die from it or anything. This is the exposure technique. When you are having an OCD attack that makes you to be very scared of something, try to imagine like the worse has already happened. Like really imagine that. Then start checking all your emotions on the anxiety scale from 1 to 10 (10 being the worst in intensity) every 2 minutes. After about 10 minutes, start checking your physical self and see that you are perfectly alive and nothing has really affected you."
Wow, I love Xanax and Temazepam :)? I feel so chilled out, I came home anxious as hell, but took 70 mg of Temazepam and 4 mg of Xanax, I'm also on Luvox 300 mg (150 - 2xday), man do I feel chilled out. I got a lot of Xanax, but Temazepam I think is the stuff. I was stressed like hell, now I'm so mellow. You should try it, only if you come home like you've come home from war (Iike me today) I have SEVERE anxiety. Ah well, just chill bothers. Oh, can taking 300mg (2x150SR) of bupropion hinder my OCD progress? Thank you... please help, my life is a nightmare, i'm a young man with no friends, no i'm not a basement kid on my computer, i go to therapy once a week and left therpapy too long... so the bupropion question.... please? i am also out to temazepam. :)
This is so much better than dexamphetamine i was prescribed for comorbid adhd, i hate it, i just want to feel mellllow. :) please help guys, my next app. is in a month with p-doc :))
Proverbs 31 woman replied: "I just said a prayer for you right now. Hopefully you can deal with your problems through therapy and get off the medication. You do NOT need drugs to feel 'mellow'...you need therapy more than once a month. Check into going once a week. Find other things to occupy your time also. Go for a walk, pet a dog, smell a flower, go to the coffee shop and people watch, go the park and swing on the swing, take a hike, etc. and I guarantee you will feel a thousand times better. God bless you and I do hope you can find inner peace and heal."
How long will my course of anti depressants last? I was prescribed Bupropion sr 100mg two times a day daily in october of 2008. I the summer of 2008 I began experience panic attacks a few weeks after I experimented with Robitussin which contains the psychoactive chemical DXM which gives you altered state of consciousness. I had to quit smoking marijuana which I loved and smoked just about everyday because my anxiety was turning into a deep depression which made me not want to alter my mind anymore. Then I developed OCD which made me have violent thoughts and impulses which scared me. I've been on the same medication now for 4 months, and feel MUCH MUCH better, to the point of saying the i'm back to normal if not very close to it. My doctor wanted me to increase my dosage about a month ago, but I stayed with the 2 times a day, and a couple weeks after that the full benefits of it started to kick in. Now everyday I heal from the severe anxiety and depression. The thing is, I cant smoke weed on bupropion because of possible undesirable side effects ( please don't give me a lecture about pot, it's harmless if your responsible and smart, studys show it does not destroy brain cells what so ever, thc and the other chemicals are not carcinogens, and marijuana is NOT why i started having panic attacks, I know everything I need to know about weed.) So my question is, if i feel pretty good now, how much longer will I need to stay on bupropion, weeks, months, a year?
pharmacymom replied: "The usual course for antidepressants is a year, at least. Then if symptoms are better you might be able to slowly start coming off the meds...a doctor will have to evaluate if that is okay at the time."
Blowhole replied: "At least 4-9 months. If it's working, that doesn't necessarily mean you're back to normal (whatever that may be for you), it just means it's working.
The only reason it would be sooner would be if you and your doctor decide it isn't working, or you're getting side effects from it.
The 1 year metric the other answerer suggested is based on SSRI's. Buproprion is not an SSRI."
Need Help With Mental Stuff-Hubby's Deploying? Hi, I need help. My husband is deploying in about a week for 6 months. I'm currently taking Wellbutrin-bupropion, Citalopram, and Ativan every day. I'm diagnosed with PTSD, depression, OCD and anaxiety. I have 3 kids (3 years, 18 months, and 6 months) so I'll basically be a single mom the whole time my husband's deployed. My issue is with my medication. The antidepressants and regular anti anxiety meds are working ok, but the only thing that can seem to make me calm and not freaking out all the time is the ativan. He perscribed me 1mg every 8 hours or as needed, but It's getting to be where I have to take 3-4 at once just to be able to handle the kids alone. They're all in the typical age where I'm constantly running around busy and going insane because they're so much work. I don't even have time to go to the bathroom. If Idon't take my medication, I get horrible with major panic atttacks, crying eppisodes and rage every day. But I think that I'm starting to have to take more and more ativan each time because my body's getting used to the dosage or something. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow and I need to explain that I need my ativan without him thinking that I'm just in it and addicted. It's the only thing that's going to get me by when he's deployed. At my last apt the doctor said he didn't want me on Ativan because it's addicting and gave me this other stuff that just made me soooo sick. What should I do? Also, is there anything else that can help me deal with the anxiety and stress? I know exercise, taking kids t o park, blagblabla, but I'm serious, his last deployment, I just wanted to die and I don't want it to be hell again. I'm needing something that can calm me down, not think so much about him being in Iraq, and still be able to funcion and be a good mom for my kids. Any advice? PLEASE
Helicreature, you have no idea what you're talking about. I have been clinically diagnosed with ocd, ptsd, depression, and anxiety. by psychiatrists. Now these problems that I have, and that many others have do usually get treated with medication and therapy. So I wouldn't call it "drugging myself up to my eyeballs" thank you very much. Also, I am very supportive of my husband and proud of him. I am a good mother and take darn good care of them while he's away. A simple question of other ways to cope for MYSELF isn't selfish. Not one bit. I was asking ways to make every day not seem like a year while he's gone. Because probably unlike you, I actually miss my husband while he's gone and count down the loooong days like there's no tomorrow. To know that there are other military wives that are as hard and cold as you is pretty sad. No support at all.........
helicreature is probably one of the wives that sleeps with 20 other guys and gives her husband an std when he gets back.
StephenC replied: "This is why family is so important. they are there to help you through your rough times. Sometimes we just need to take a step back and look at the big picture and then see that life could be so much worse. SWEET MILDRED IS OUR LEADER.. COME CRAWL INTO HER PLAYPEN"
Min replied: "Hon. you need a support group. Do you have any wives that get together & help each other whilst their OH's are deployed? You also need to explain to the Dr. that the different meds he/she prescribed made you physically sick. Pls advise him/her you've had to increase the dosage of Ativan to help you cope, yr body has become used to the medication & that is why you need the increased dosage to help. Are there any groups available to you for dealing with yr disorders? Has the Dr. suggested talking to a psychologist? Or keeping a diary? Sometimes these things can be of great help. I know yr children are young but when you do get them into bed & asleep have you tried to meditate? It can help you relax, similar to having a nice warm bath.
Check out this website it's called, it has a depression thread as well as a 'cancer thread' where you can chat with other ppl about yr meds or whatever is stressing you out. They are a beaut bunch of ppl & no-one judges you. They will help you when you need 'the wind beneath yr wings' on a bad day & share in yr good days if you wish. Is there a base chaplain you can chat to or a welfare officer? Take care sweetheart seek the help you need."
Helicreature replied: "You need to get a grip.
How on Earth do you think your husband feels when he is about to deploy and his wife is behaving like a hysteric?
He will be out of his mind with worry whilst he is away and he doesn't need that pressure.
So, you have three small children. That was your choice. Now you have to do what every other wife of a deployed Soldier does and show them an example. There is nothing 'blagblabla' about the standard ways that we deal with deployment. Yes, exercise is good. Yes, taking your children to the park is good. Take up a hobby, help someone else so you stop thinking about yourself, study something, write your husband long, chatty, cheerful letters, support other wives going through their husband's first deployment... the list of ways to occupy yourself is endless.
We are ALL effectively single Mothers when our husbands are deployed. This situation is not exclusive to you - but most of us realise that we are the love and support system both of the family at home and of our husband who is away doing a difficult job and we step up to the plate. Your husband should be able to feel proud of you and to know that he is leaving his children in capable and loving hands, so forget drugging yourself up to the eyeballs and get on with it...like the rest of us!
Edit: I am afraid your hysterical response to being told the truth only proves I was right. I would be careful about accusing the wife of a Senior Officer whom you do not know of infidelity and sexual ill health in type, in a public place. I have a loving, faithful and happy marriage and what you write could be construed as libel."
Can meds mess up your memory? I have OCD and social anxiety and my doctor has me on a number of medications. My family and friends all joke with me that my memory sucks ... but it really does. Then I saw a commercial that I could have sworn they said that people could suffer memory loss from whatever med they were advertising. I am not 100% sure, you know how they reattle off every possible side effect in 5 seconds, but I am fairly certain that is what they said. My medications... Lexapro, Klonipin, Seroquel, Bupropion (regular and XL). Honestly, can any of these cause memory loss or cause you to have a bad memory? Answers will be appreciated!
Mum Mum replied: "Yes,ask your doctor !"
Matante replied: "It's a side effect of Klopinin; I found out by googling them, more information is available and is pertinent for you to know."
Fizzy replied: "These chemicalized drugs are the worst for your body, it doesnt heal you but more likely to just replace your feelings to be dull rather than anxious or depressive.
If you ever go to Youtube, check this video about this drugs:
Psychiatry: Industry of Death.
Good luck

W E replied: "Yes. They can. You maybe on to high a dose. I know for a fact that Klonopin and other tranquilizers can cause memory problems. Tell your doctor what is happening."
I'm very curious on what my pills for my Disorders and Phobias can do for my body.? I Suffer from Multiple Disorders and Phobias and I'm curious wat risks can my pills can do for my body.
These are my Minor Disorders and Phobias:
1. Amnesia (Due to Stimulus Thoughts; ADHD)
2. Claustrophobia
3. Tourette Syndrome (Due to Uncontrollable Rage; Intermittent Explosive Disorder)
These are my SEVERE Disorders and Phobias which my Doctor Magnifies:
4. Bi-polar Dis.
5. Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder(ADHD)
6. Intermittent Explosive Disorder
7. Obsession Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
8. Panic Disorder (Panic Attacks)
9. Social Phobia
10. Insomnia (Due to Stimulus Thoughts)
I'm Taking these pills and I want to know what they do, what Disorder or Phobia it's having an effect on, what risks I'm taking, and what are the side effects:
Clonazepam - 0.5 MG
Geodon - 80 MG
Bupropion SR - 200 MG
Amitriptyline - 25 MG
Ambien CR - 12.5 MG
Adderall XR - 30 MG (I'm really curious about this pill cause this is new to me because my Doctor just Prescribed a New ADHD pill for me after concerta and vyvanse)
I've been taking everything except Adderall XR for 3 Years and I didn't do much research about my pills, some have been switch with MG and pills and I need a good source that can give me good detail about my pills.
So far I've Taken some Medicine that has affected me to some degree and I got off it like:
Zoloft; (I got a Urinal Tract Infection and went to the Hospital and they stuck something up my pee hole and I had to carry a bag in my leg that was attached to my bladder for a whole weekend, oh boy this is embarrassing)
Lamictal; (My Brain got mini seizures and I kept hearing "BZZT" noises in my Head)
Depakote; (I could literally feel my organs, I can't say much but I think I felt my liver, not really sure but I felt a squeezing pain above my stomach in the right side)
Concerta; (I lost a TON of pounds and muscle which I regret so I asked my Doctor to prescrib me something else and he prescribed me vyvanse and me being a dumbass didn't tell him I was losing muscle and weight and he prescribed me now Adderall XR I hope this one does the trick for my ADHD)
I get my Blood Tested every 6 months and I recently got my Results and I'm as healthy as the next guy now (Thank God) So I'm kinda scared Adderall will have a Major effect like Concerta
If I'm in the wrong section of yahoo please direct me to the right one.
PS. You don't have to write me a whole summary I will give anyone a thumbs up if you put effort and thought in your opinions and sources.
*QuEeN_MeEeG* replied: "Well I have worked in a hospital pharmacy for 7 years so I know what drugs your talkin bout. I think the very best thing to do is speak to your pharmacists were you get your pre ions from. As you know the ambien is to sleep and will make you fall asleep fast and the amitript. Is for depression or a mood in hancer. Clonazepam will relax you. Geodon is to help with your other issues. As for the addreall it will make you concentrate like crazy. Lots of people abuse this drug for the speed effect it has. I'm sure the harm to your body is very minimal compared to the benefit. Sometimes it takes a long time to get a right combo. I'm sure every thing will turn out fine for you. Also go to webmd.com or google each drug for a list of side effects and more info. "

Scott.Paul replied: "I was laughing while reading your post-damn everything you said about "you come home like you've come home from war" is true...I feel you man.........I only feel relieved when I'm inside the house.....and thanks for the meds you've just named..I'll try them (do I need pre ion for it)........-_-"
Mad Max replied: "I'm not a doctor, but it sounds to me like you are taking a lot of Xanax. 4mg is quite a lot. Taking that level of Xanax at a time can certainly get you addicted. I hope you aren't drinking any alcohol while taking these doses.
What concerns me is that you say that you "feel chilled out". I certainly understand where you are coming from and it is such a nice feeling, but I have abused benzos (like Xanax) in the past and they can be difficult to get off. You should take the meds to reduce the anxiety so that you can tolerate it, if you end up taking more, you'll have a difficult time making progress with your therapy.
I have taken bupropion for depression before and I also have OCD. In my experience bupropion is one of the most effective anti-depressants, but unfortunately my body didn't tolerate it well. I don't think it hinders your progress, but it can trigger anxiety and panic attacks so you should be careful with it.
Take care brother. Be careful with the meds, they can make you feel better, but they are a double edged sword."
