LG lithium ion battery 3.7v 100mAh? my lg lithium ion battery 3.7v 100mAh is getting very hot whenever i talk on the phone. has anyone else had this problem and if so, what should i do?

Danijel replied: "well you can do this: 1.check is your battery maybe in "short cut" (that means are + and - maybe touching in any areas) 2.if you bought a new battery (that one you have now) maybe hers 100mAh are to much for your cell phone so you should buy a new one 3.give your mobile to the service because you don't want any higher damages in your phone 4.maybe your phone is malfunction it may be pulling to big ampers from your battery so in my conclusion give it to service if my 1,2,3,4 didn't work"

where can you find the expiration date on a LG lithium ion battery 3.7V 1100mAh? Or where can you find the manufured date on the LG Lithium Ion battery 3.7V 1100mAh?

magu2k replied: "Usually if you remove the battery there is a tag on the case somewhere, you won't have much luck finding an expiry date, and likely not much more luck finding a MFG date. Rechargeable Lithium batteries don't have an expiry date. But Lithium Ion batteries do expire eventually, it's not something they advertise by any means."

Is 3.7V 1120mAh Lithium-Ion battery better than a 3.7V 800mAh Lithium-Ion battery? I'm trying to purchase a camera combo from a site but the combo will replace the original canon battery (1120mAh Lithium-Ion battery) with a generic battery (800mAh Lithium-Ion battery) as an upgrade. The lower the mAh the better? That's my confusion, NewEgg.com replaces the one battery with the other. Doesn't make any sense to me.

cheeze_avenger replied: "You want a low mAh number, that means it's the best."

Q replied: "No the higher the mAh the better, holds the charge longer."

Petra_au replied: "Q is right...the higher the number, the larger capacity the battery is. Stick with the Canon battery."

ngufra replied: "the mAh number is the capacity of the battery. a larger number will let you operate the camera for longer between charges. P=U.I (power =voltage * amperage) so for one battery: P= 3.7 * 1.120= 4.144Wh for the other: P= 3.7 * 0.8=2.96 Wh so if the camera were to use 1 Wh, with one battery it would last over 4 hours, with the other a little less than 3. usually the combos ADD a spare battery, they don't replace it. However if the price is right, you can get another battery and two 800 mAh battery will be better than one 1.12Ah battery. You can charge one while you use the other so you always have one ready."

I have 10 - 3.7v lithium ion batteries in series which gives me a total of 40v and 15 amps, how do i charge it? I am having problems understanding how to charge them without disabling one of the individual batteries okay but with what type of charger what voltage/amperage etc...

cubola zaruka replied: "Connect power source in parallel with batteries. To prevent power surges from damaging the rest of the circuit, either use a power source with low voltage and current, or use resistors."

Laurence replied: "Says here: charge at .2 - .7 C till the voltage is 42 volts then continue until 10% of original current is being drawn. so if they are 1 AH, start around 200 to 700 mA, cap at 42 volts and charge until battery is drawing 20 to 70 mA."

what does mAh mean in relation to a lithium ion battery? The battery that came with my new camera says it's 3.7V = 925mAh Here's another listed as a battery that's advertised as acceptable for the camera, but the mAh value is less: Olympus LI-50B Lithium-Ion Battery (3.7v, 740mAh) I've seen others listed as 1000mAh. Pardon my ignorance, but will a higher/lower valve improve the camera's response time? Or what does the mAh relate to?

mike1942f replied: "It is a capacity. mAh is milliamp hours. The bigger the number the better. You will see Amp hours on car batteries like 70 amp hours which means it can deliver 70 amps for an hour or 35 amps for 2 hours or 1 amp for 70 hours. (subject to some rules) Milliamp hours are 1/1000th (one one thousandth) the size of amp hours so 1000 mAh is 1 Ah"

Dooley replied: "mAh is "Milliamp Hour" which is basically how much power that battery can hold. The higher the mAh, the longer the battery will last. If the manufacturer recommends a specific mAh, then I would not go below that, or it may not function, or possibly drain very quickly. Digital cameras use a high drain, which could be higher than the battery can put out. Now, for the technical: Milliamp Hours is the amount of milliamps of power that battery can deliver for one hour. So, your 925mAh battery will deliver 925 Milliamps for one hour before it is drained. If the camera requires 925 milliamps, then your battery should last for one hour (of course, differnet functions use different amounts of power, such as flash, or zooming (which is a motor)) If your camera, under "normal" use required 450 milliamps, then your battery will last for a bit over two hours. (450x2=900)"

Will 3.7v lithium-ion AA type batteries damage speakers that are supposed to take 1.5v batteries? I have a set of altec lansing, in motion sound blade speakers (http://www.fommy.com/view-full-page.asp?divid=Blackberry&model=BlackBerry+Storm+9530&skuno=81352). They take 6 standard AA batteries and also work with Ni-Mh batteries but i was looking for batteries that could survive the duration of a 4 day festival. I already have and iAudio 7 which has approx. 40 hours running time and has lasted the duration of a 4 day festival already. These speakers seem to be the first ones i've come across that have half decent sound quality for portable use. But i don't want to buy the lithium-ion batteries if they're going to damage my speakers. These are the batteries i was looking at getting (http://www.batteryjunction.com/protected-14500-lithium.html) Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Eric C replied: "generally, you can exceed the current rating listed on the speakers (or other electronics) but it's not usually wise to exceed the voltage. It can damage parts on the inside (diodes) or cause the amplifier to distort if there's no voltage regulation on them."

pilot replied: "Most likely they will -- you don't want more volts you want more amps. of the ones I looked at the Ni Hi (nickel metal hydroxide) have the highest. But it is hard to beat the run time on alkaline, just take enough. ."

How can a Li-Ion cell phone battery be charged, independently of the cell phone? The battery: LG Lithium Ion 3.7V 1000mAh LGIP A 1000E

Peter K replied: "You need a custom made charger specifically for that battery. Lithium Ion technology is quite frankly dangerous and will catch fire if mistreated. So there are temperature sensors and all sorts of protection circuits in the phone to prevent mishaps. The easiest way is to get another phone and put it in that to charge."

electronics questions regarding Lithium ion battery? I'm new to electronics and learning to solder, etc. And I had a question about the Lithium ion battery in my pda. Let's say the manufacturer stops making replacement batteries - but I want to keep the device running ... It is a 3.7V Li-Ion with a particular connector. If I found another battery that produced that same voltage, could I cut the wire leading to the connector, and solder on my old connector - and that battery should work? Thanks

charcinders replied: "Yes, provided the new battery has equal or greater capacity than the old one (measured in milliamp hours, mAh)."

Can I get a longer lasting battery for my LG KU990 Viewty? The LG Lithium Ion Battery 3.7V that comes with the LG KU990 Viewty barely lasts a day - I was wondering if there was another battery I could buy to fit this phone that would last longer? Thanks.

Briggsy replied: "You can change the brightness down to 80% from 100% and you seriously cannot tell the difference but energy is being saved. Alternatively you can change the brightness to zero. On mine at 100% it lasts about 2days, on 80 about 4 and on zero about a week :) I'm not sure about buying a new battery because phones reject a lot of batteries that are not appropriate to the model, I would suggest contacting LG"

smoke replied: "yes go to the place you bought it and ask for a new battery I did it with my old phone"

girlborofan replied: "I agree with what Briggsy has suggested, but I also have another suggestion. If you visit the website there is a forum section. In this section there is a group all about battery power saving methods. It has a variety of suggestions, such as de-sensitising the touchscreen, and other stuff. You can follow those ideas, if you like, as well as asking for further advice. Hope this helps."

JESSICA replied: "just visit for Extended Battery for the LG Viewty KU990 only about 5.91."

Digital Camera Lithium Ion Battery Upgrade Question? I recently bought a Kodak M1063. I think it is a great camera , but the battery, even tho it is Lithium Ion , Doesn't last as long as I would like it too. Is it possible to upgrade the battery? The current battery is a 3.7v Rechargeable KLIC - 001 it is 770mAh. If I bought a different 3.7v battery with say 3000mAh would it be generically compatible? Is there anything you can point me to that speaks about this specifically? I took your advice and tried contacting Kodak. ...... It would probably have been easier to hire a witch and carry her on a palanquin to the top of some remote mountain in the Seirra Azul's and start a huge bonfire and wait for the full moon so she could read some Tarot Cards and use her crystal ball to answer me. Kodak customer service is a JOKE. Fortunately a 20 minute drive to Best Buy and 30 seconds talking to someone who clearly knew a lot more about Kodak Products than Kodak answered my question. TYVM for the suggestion and for taking the time to answer :)

fhotoace replied: "You will have to contact the help line at Kodak. Batteries do not last a certain amount of time ... they are usually good for a certain number of shots before needing to be recharged. If you keep the LCD turned off, don't use the LCD to show off your shots and remember that using the zoom in excess and the flash unit a lot, the number of shots per charge will be reduced"
