Codeine is a terrible medicine- it's addictive and causes constipation. 85% of chesty episodes are the result of viral infections which will clear up on their own. Promethazine is an antihistamine/antiemetic which is available as a syrup. It's not going to help you though."

what kind of high would I feel if I were to mix 25 mg promethazine pills and cough syrup containing codeine? okay, Im not trying to get high, but in popular hip hop songs I often hear about purple lean, sizzurp, etc, which is coedine and promethazine, now Im wondering, people say it gets you sooo fcuked up, but what exactally happens, and how much would you need to take? Codeine-Promethazine cough syrup side effect? I recently got prescirbed the stuff for a horrible cough that I have. It works well, but I notice that about an hour after I dose I get a loud ringing in my ears, my vision fades in and out, and if I stand up I am very prone to falling/passing out for no longer than a few seconds. After that I feel absolutely fine. Is this a normal side effect of promethazine, or is this something to be worried about? Also, this effect seems to coincide with my smoking. However, I can stop that easily, I guess I just like lighting up when I'm sedated. Is there any relation there?

spaceasthenia replied: "Prometh is a very strong sedative. The side effects you are experiencing are common for this drug. Smoking will definitely increase these effects and you should really try to reduce or even quit smoking while using this medicine."

midnightmoon replied: "Both the meds in your cough syrup are narcotic. You should take it only before you are getting ready to lie down, and dont take more than the directed dose. And yes, smoking will enhance the narcotic effects."
